THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF CANCER CARE
Hooksett, NH – Experts from New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology , PA , the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Elliot Hospital will present a free educational event that will explore the trends causing medical debt and the resources, solutions and programs available to assist families in this regard.
This important event, which is open to the community, will be held Tuesday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Elliot Hospital , One Elliot Way in Manchester , NH . The event will feature a panel discussion with perspectives from different healthcare professionals.
Ronald Barkley, M.S., J.D., Executive Director, New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology , PA , and Diane Lanahan, M.B.A., R.N., Director, Managed Care Contracting at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, along with Lise Mendham, M.P.H., R.N., O.C.N., Director of Oncology Services at the Elliot Hospital , will discuss the shift of healthcare costs to the consumer and how it relates to paying for cancer care. Health insurance and public benefit basics, and how cancer care coverage can fall short will also be addressed. Medicare Part D, the new prescription drug benefit, will be discussed in the context of payment for chemotherapy services. In addition, cancer patient healthcare insurance advocacy in the community practice setting, cancer patient case studies and profiles of patient out-of-pocket financial exposures will be examined.
