Two From New Hampshire Oncology/Hematology Named "Top Docs"

HOOKSETT, NH – Two members of the regional group practice, New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, PA, have been named among New Hampshire’s top physicians, as judged by other physicians in the state.

Denis Hammond, MD, and Robert Friedlander, Jr., MD, are featured as "Top Docs" in the area of oncology in April’s edition of New Hampshire Magazine. The distinction was the result of a survey sent to 3,100 of the state’s physicians by the magazine. The survey asked, "If you or a loved one were sick, which physician would you choose?"

Thirty-five physicians were nominated in the field of oncology, according to the magazine’s assistant editor, Sheila Frost. "Dr. Hammond and Dr. Friedlander were nominated by a wide margin. They received 30 percent more nominations than the next nominee," she explained.

Dr. Hammond is a founding partner of New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, PA, which was established more than 26 years ago in Manchester. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Friedlander joined the group practice in 1987. He is founder of Innisfree Cancer Help, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help ease the distress of the cancer experience.
Both physicians see patients in greater-Manchester. Dr. Hammond also sees patients in Exeter, while Dr. Friedlander provides cares for patients in the Lakes Region. New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology PA has five locations in New Hampshire – Hooksett, Concord, Laconia, Exeter, and Derry.

"Our colleagues are well deserving of his honor, and being recognized by fellow physicians makes the honor that much more meaningful," said Danny Sims, MD. "They have a great depth of experience and knowledge, but most importantly for their patients, they have a strong sense of caring. That gives patients and their families confidence in them as physicians. We’re so proud to be their partners and colleagues."

The magazine will publish the names of "Top Docs" in 42 specialty medical fields.
