Chemotherapy Hints

Cancer chemotherapy is treatment with anti-cancer drugs. It works by killing rapidly growing cells. The drugs destroy cancer cells outright, interfere with the ability of cancer cells to divide or reproduce, and mimic nutrients in order to starve cancer cells to death. Chemotherapy can be given orally, injected into a muscle or injected into a vein. Unfortunately, the cells of hair, linings of the mouth, stomach, intestines, and bone marrow are also rapidly growing and may be affected by chemotherapy. Due to the sensitivity of these cells, side effects may occur.

What are some of the common side effects that may occur and how can I handle them?

What can I do to regain sexual confidence after cancer?

What should I expect on treatment day?

What information do I need to know if I need to call the doctor after office hours?
