Chemotherapy
Hints
Cancer
chemotherapy is treatment with anti-cancer drugs. It works by killing
rapidly growing cells. The drugs destroy cancer cells outright,
interfere with the ability of cancer cells to divide or reproduce,
and mimic nutrients in order to starve cancer cells to death. Chemotherapy
can be given orally, injected into a muscle or injected into a vein.
Unfortunately, the cells of hair, linings of the mouth, stomach,
intestines, and bone marrow are also rapidly growing and may be
affected by chemotherapy. Due to the sensitivity of these cells,
side effects may occur.
