On Your Treatment Day

  • Please have a driver bring you to and from your chemotherapy appointment. You may feel too sleepy to drive safely.
  • Dress warmly, in layers. It can feel chilly to sit for a long period of time. We provide blankets and you are welcome to bring a small pillow.
  • If you have a port please be sure your shirt provides easy access. Please take your scheduled medicine. You may bring medicine with you if it is scheduled during your chemotherapy.
  • Please bring any pain medicine you may need during your stay here. We have no pain medicine in the office.
  • You may eat your usual breakfast or lunch before chemotherapy. You may bring a cold lunch or snack to eat during your treatment. Please do not bring hot or odoriferous foods (onions, hot subs, pizza, etc.); this can cause nausea for other patients. We have a limited selection of snacks available for our chemotherapy patients.
  • Please avoid wearing strong perfumes or after-shave lotions; this can cause nausea for other patients.
  • You may bring a quiet activity to occupy your time, e.g., music/tapes with a headset, books, magazines, or games. Please keep in mind your hand movement may be limited by the IV line.
  • One visitor per person may sit with you. All other guests should wait in the lobby waiting area.
  • No children under 12 years of age allowed in treatment area.
  • Cell phones should be turned off or silenced in the treatment area as a courtesy to other patients who may prefer to rest during their treatment. Cell phone use is permitted in the front lobby area.
