Colorectal Cancer

Red color connotes government-sponsored trials.
Green color connotes pharmaceutical-sponsored trials.

C-08 - Patients with colon cancer at moderate to high risk for recurrent cancer after surgery are eligible for the trial. Patients are randomly allocated to :

1-Chemotherapy (FOLFOX regimen)

or

2-Chemotherapy (FOLFOX) + Bevacizumab (antibody that starves tumor of blood supply)

CALGB 80405 - Patients with advanced colon or rectal cancer who have not received chemotherapy for metastatic disease are randomly assigned to one of the three following treatments:

1- Chemotherapy + Avastin (antibody that disrupts blood vessel growth to tumor)

2- Chemotherapy + Erbitux (antibody that interferes with a protein that enhances tumor growth)

3- Chemotherapy + Avastin + Erbitux

R-04 - Patients with rectal cancer who require preoperative therapy are randomly assigned to one of the following four treatments:

1-Radiation plus intravenous  chemotherapy with 5-Flourouracil

2-Radiation plus oral chemotherapy with capecitabine

3-Radiation plus 5Flourouracil + Oxaliplatin

4-Radiation plus oral Capecitabine  + Oxaliplatin

Many patients with rectal cancer will be best served by radiation and chemotherapy before surgery. This study assesses newer drugs which have shown much promise in the treatment of rectal cancer in other settings
